FROM META'S LLAMA TO AN ONCHAIN CHARACTER

THE LLAMA IS ONCHAIN.

Meta created Llama. Artificial Llama turns the culture around one of open AI's most recognizable names into an original community memecoin, paired directly with tokenized $META.

One recognizable AI symbol. One original character. One market built around the $META pair.

Story

Why a llama?

Llama, Meta's family of open AI models, became one of the most recognizable names in the field. Artificial Llama takes that cultural symbol off the model card and gives it a life of its own: a visor, a voice and a world above the clouds.

Every part of the character is original: the artwork, the voice and the world it climbs through.

The chain of ideas

FROM META TO THE HERD

  1. 01

    META CREATED LLAMA

A family of AI models that became a global symbol of open AI.

  2. 02

    THE COMMUNITY CREATED ARTIFICIAL LLAMA

An original character and memecoin built from the culture around that name.

  3. 03

ARTIFICIAL LLAMA PAIRS WITH TOKENIZED $META

The project's market uses tokenized $META as its reference asset.

The researcher behind the inspiration

Hu Xu

Hu Xu is a Research Scientist at Meta Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) in Seattle. Meta's official profile lists his interests as data curation and alignment and multimodal pre-training.

On his personal research page, he says he leads the MetaCLIP series (1, 2 and S) and the Llama 3 vision encoder, with contributions to DINOv2, Perception Encoder and SAM 3.

Before FAIR, he earned a PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois Chicago and a master's in microelectronics from Peking University.

Why it matters here

His published work sits at the exact intersection this character was built on: teaching machines to read pictures and see language. That research is the spark behind the story, and it is worth reading in full.

Research

From words and images to a character

CLIP systems learn by connecting images with the language around them. MetaCLIP's central contribution was a transparent, metadata-driven recipe for curating large image-text datasets. MetaCLIP 2 extended that recipe toward worldwide, multilingual web data.

Community research profile

John Presley follows the ideas shaping open models, multimodal research and the Llama ecosystem. Within Artificial Llama, the profile connects technical research, visual culture and the community building around open AI.

The focus is simple: make serious research easier to discover, discuss and turn into culture. No corporate voice. No empty hype. Just experiments, references and a curious llama watching the frontier move.

Why $META?

THE BUILDERS GET EQUITY. THE HERD GETS A PAIR.

Llama was created at Meta and grew into one of the most recognizable names in open AI. The people building at Meta can receive equity as part of their compensation, tying part of their work to the company they help move forward.

That sparked the idea behind Artificial Llama. If the builders can be connected to Meta through equity, why couldn't a community build its own character and connect its market directly to tokenized $META?

Artificial Llama is a community memecoin designed to trade against tokenized $META. Instead of using a generic quote asset, the market places the llama and $META on opposite sides of the same pair.

This does not make the token a salary or a share of Meta. It gives the meme a clear structure and a story people can understand: Llama culture on one side, tokenized $META on the other.

  1. 01

    META BUILDS LLAMA

Open AI research creates the cultural symbol.

  2. 02

    THE COMMUNITY BUILDS THE CHARACTER

Artificial Llama turns that symbol into an original onchain mascot.

  3. 03

    THE MARKET USES $META

The token is traded against tokenized $META as its reference asset.

SAME REFERENCE ASSET. A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP.

Two sides. One cable.

Artificial Llama × Tokenized $META

The project is designed around a direct onchain pair with tokenized $META. In the pool, Artificial Llama and $META are the two sides of the same market.

One cable, two strands. The pair is the mechanism that keeps the character tied to the ecosystem that inspired it.

Character

A mascot first

He watches before he moves.

He climbs while the timeline argues.

He never mistakes noise for altitude.

Artificial Llama is a mascot first: recognizable, remixable and built for a community that wants its own visual language.

Above the noise. Still climbing.
